Hydrogen plant for Louisiana

Air Products & Chemicals Inc. will build and operate a hydrogen facility to support Murphy Oil Corp.’s Louisiana-based hydrocracker. Air Products said the facility, to be in New Orleans, will have a capacity of 40 million standard cubic feet a day. The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2003. A spokesman for Air Products was unavailable to comment on the construction costs. The facility, under Air Product’s control, will provide Murphy’s hydrocracker with hydrogen to produce transportation fuel.
A Murphy unit, Murphy Oil USA Inc. is running the hydrocracker, located in Meraux, Louisiana. Air Products is working with Technip-Coflexip to build the facility. Technip provides design and construction experience for the steam methane reformers in the facility.
