New safety switch with rotating actuator head

Schmersal is gearing up to introduce four new electromechanical safety switches equipped with separate actuators: the AZ215/AZ216 and AZ315/AZ316 switches are tailored for safety guard position monitoring on sideways or rotating guard doors.

A distinguishing feature of these switches is the rotating actuator head, constructed from die-cast zinc, enabling effortless rotation in 90° increments prior to installation. This unique capability allows for approach from four different directions, including from the side and above, providing unparalleled flexibility in positioning. Coupled with the option to combine with various actuators, the AZ series offers maximum installation flexibility and a wide array of usage possibilities.

The switch housing, whether plastic or metal, maintains consistent design and size with the PS 215/216 and PS 315/316 series position switches, ensuring uniformity and seamless integration into surrounding structures. The smaller AZ215 and AZ216 switches adhere to standard EN 50047, while the larger AZ315 and AZ316 switches comply with standard EN 50041.

Furthermore, these switches are available in different versions, including those with M20 cable entry and connection terminals, as well as versions with 4 or 8-pin M12 connectors, depending on the number of contacts. The built-in 8-pin connector facilitates connection to the SFB Safety Fieldbox. Additionally, device versions with three contacts in various combinations can serve a signaling role alongside their safety function. The connection terminals on the switch elements, rotated by 45°, enable swift and hassle-free wiring.
