Praise for Severn Glocon

Severn Glocon Ltd (UK) has been praised for its performance in the supply of specialised severe service control valves to a Middle East oil production platform. The order involved the replacement of three large (10″ x 18″) blowdown-to-flare angle valves during a field shutdown programme performed by the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company. The severe nature of the application demanded a high-technology design solution, which was achieved by the use of Severn Glocon’s multi labyrinth trim (MLT) design. The MLT replaces a conventional concentric cage valve seat design with a computer designed disc stack that presents a multi-stage pressure/multi-path labyrinth flow path to the fluid. The design enables the MLT to be precisely sized to control energy dissipation and velocity by means of passageways incorporating both axial and radial directions. The valves supplied to ADMA-OPCO were designed with 34 stages of pressure let-down in their MLT trims. Severn Glocon’s efforts were acknowledged by ADMA-OPCO’s Acting Facilities Engineering Manager on the project. Congratulating the company, he said: “Your professional attitude and co-operation has been most appreciated and resulted in these critical path items contributing to an improved field shutdown schedule and early restart of oil production.”
