Rotork wins Syncrude contract

Valve actuation specialist Rotork Controls has signed a purchase agreement with the world’s largest producer of crude oil from oil sands. Rotork’s Canadian subsidiary company has been awarded the contract by Alberta-based Syncrude Canada Ltd to supply electric and pneumatic valve actuators throughout a USD 8 billion capital investment project known as
Syncrude 21. Plant start-up is planned for 2004 and will increase production by more than 100,000 barrels a day. Rotork will supply latest IQ intelligent electric actuators together with linear and quarter-turn pneumatic actuators. The actuators will be packaged with control components and mounted onto valves at Rotork’s Centre of Excellence at Calgary.
