A dynamic new development in Sydney’s central business district will incorporate SIPOS Aktorik’s electric actuators as part of its District Cooling Plant (DCP). Located in Barangaroo, an inner-city suburb of New South Wales, Australia, the scheme is situated on the southern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. As part of a regeneration project, the 22 hectare site incorporates a naturalistic harbour park.
Supported locally by Barron GJM, SIPOS’ actuators, combined with AUMA worm gearboxes, are currently being commissioned as part of the scheme’s DCP which will provide chilled water to a number of connected buildings including commercial and residential facilities, a hotel and retail areas.
A total of 16 SIPOS electric actuators will be fitted to DN300/DN400 butterfly valves with AUMA worm gearboxes. The actuators specified are 240V 1Ph with MODBUS RTU interface and 24VDC digital interface.
Specialised features of SIPOS’ products make the actuators ideally suited for district cooling installations. For example, variable speed capability, with soft start and stop functionality, addresses the issue of water hammer.
SIPOS’ district cooling credentials are confirmed with a growing portfolio of installations including a number of UAE projects at Dubai Metro, Yas Island and Al Raha beach.
