Precision Metallic Sealing for Valves
Cross Manufacturing Company is a world leading manufacturer of precision engineered high temperature metallic sealing, retaining and piston rings. In the valve and flow control industries, Cross products are attractive for applications where effective sealing is essential for reasons of safety, the environment and efficiency. Rugged designs optimise performance, reduce maintenance and contribute to improved asset management.
Our expertise with stainless steels and alloys including Nimonics, Inconels, Haynes and Waspaloy is especially relevant for safety critical applications, high temperatures, corrosive media and cryogenics.
We apply decades of specialist experience to the design and manufacture of rugged wrought alloy products, combining technology with innovation to achieve unrivalled quality and precision. Our proprietary technology delivers accurate dimensions and increased strength, particularly in the circumferential direction. Regular production encompasses diameters from 12mm up to 2,000mm for applications in temperatures up to 1,000°C.
Applications include:
- Valve stem seals, including the prevention of fugitive emissions. Used alone or in combination with traditional seal packing, metallic solutions manufactured by Cross can deliver positive sealing with strength and flexibility. Metal seals do not shrink and do not absorb water.
- Metal valve seats for isolating and control valves. Our ability to manufacture a huge range of diameters suits valves in virtually all size and pressure rating environments, from miniature instrumentation to large pipelines.
- Specialised pipe joint solutions where movement is experienced.Cross pipe joint sealing rings are designed for sealing gases up to temperatures of 800°C and pressures of 17 bar.
- Pump seals
- Metallic gaskets
- Springs for failsafe applications
Our customers benefit from expert technical support and extensive research and development facilities, built on decades of experience in diverse industries including aerospace and supported by comprehensive in-house heat treatment and metallurgical laboratory capabilities. We hold strict Quality Approvals to ISO 9001:2015, AS 9100 Revision D, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 14001:2015, together with NADCAP Process Approvals.
We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership with customers on research, development and test projects to achieve increased performance and greater efficiency in the flow control industries.
