    TransAlta awards contract for scrubber additions

    TransAlta Corporation (Calgary, Alberta) has awarded a consortium of Stone & Webster, a division of the Shaw Group, and Alstom Power the engineering and construction contract for a USD 200 million project to instal two flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) units on two 730mw coal-fired units. Civil construction began in 2000.
